1997-1998
To remember the unclaimed dead of Chicago’s catastrophic 1995 heat wave, I used information from the county medical examiner’s office to map and photograph their homes. I knit each person a pair of mittens, labeled with his or her name, address, and birth date.

Jon Anderson of the Chicago Tribune wrote Mittens Knit a Tribute... He included this piece in the book City Watch; Discovering the Uncommon Chicago, published in 2001.
